💼 About the position:

Join us as an Industrial Construction Director to bring clean solar energy to Mexico! Work with our Industrial Engineering and Project Management teams and play a critical role in achieving Bright's goals by aligning with the company's priorities. You'll be responsible for building the capability and network of the industrial team and creating the strategy for the deployment of 60 MWs of industrial distributed solar projects in the next year. You will collaborate with Sales and Finance to drive the construction and operation of profitable solar projects.

🥇 Who you are:

  • You know Mexican construction regulations and permitting processes.

  • You are comfortable speaking English and communicating concisely.

  • You have the following skills:

    • You have the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously:

      • You have proven experience managing stakeholders from complex Turnkey projects that happen simultaneously, and you are capable of assigning the most qualified resources to solve any challenges that arise.

        • (i.e., Led a team in delivering two large-scale, turnkey solar power installations for different clients. Effectively communicated with various stakeholders, including clients, subcontractors, and regulatory bodies).

    • Organizational and Time Management skills:

      • You know best practices for project and vendor management, how to teach them, and a network of advisors that can help your team implement them.

        • (i.e., Conducted workshops on project and vendor management best practices for your team, focusing on effective communication, risk management, and performance monitoring).

    • Leadership and Interpersonal skills:

      • You have proven ability to drive a team to solve complex challenges (including direct reports, internal teams, and contractors).

        • (i.e., Successfully led a diverse team of direct reports, internal teams, and external contractors through a challenging construction project. Fostered a collaborative environment by addressing team concerns, providing clear direction, and facilitating regular feedback sessions).

  • Preferred:

    • Project Management construction tools and software.

      • (i.e., Utilized advanced project management software, such as Procore and Primavera P6, to manage project timelines, budgets, and resource allocation. Developed custom dashboards and reports to monitor project performance and facilitate decision-making. Integrated these tools into the team’s workflow, enhancing project tracking and reporting accuracy).

    • You have >5 years of experience in construction management, with a focus on solar energy projects preferred.

      • (i.e., Managed the construction of multiple solar farms, overseeing all aspects from site preparation to final commissioning. Demonstrated expertise in navigating industry regulations, optimizing project efficiency, and leading teams to deliver high-quality solar installations).

💻 Your tasks and responsibilities will be:

  • Leading and creating technical construction capability within the engineering and project managers' teams.

    • (i.e., Design and deliver specialized training programs for engineering and project management teams focused on advanced construction techniques, industry best practices, and emerging technologies).

  • Ensuring comprehensive project plans, schedules, and budgets are developed.

    • (i.e., Develop and implement detailed project plans for complex construction projects, including setting clear milestones, allocating resources, and defining budgetary constraints).

  • Ensuring project managers oversee all on-site civil, electrical, and solar construction and commissioning activities following best industry practices.

    • (i.e., Oversee and mentor project managers to ensure they effectively manage on-site activities for civil, electrical, and solar construction projects. Implement best practices and industry standards for each phase of construction, from site preparation to system commissioning).

  • Communicate regularly with project stakeholders, including Salespeople, engineers, and vendors.

    • (i.e., Establish and maintain regular communication channels with key stakeholders, including sales teams, engineers, and vendors. Schedule and lead status meetings to discuss project progress, address any issues, and align on upcoming tasks).

  • We are ensuring compliance with all safety regulations and environmental standards.

    • (i.e., Implement a comprehensive safety and environmental management plan for all construction projects. Conduct regular training sessions for project teams on safety protocols and environmental regulations).

🎯 Your Key Results will be:

At Bright, we operate on the OKR system pioneered at Intel and used widely at Google and many tech companies. For this specific role, your Key Results  (upon which your success will be measured) is:

  • Objective: Ensure Bright, sustainable operations by maximizing customer lifetime value.

    • Key result: ​​Increase post-commissioning weighted average IRR of all industrial projects by 1% by Q3 end. (From 23% post-commissioning weighted average IRR of all commissioned GDMT projects by Q2 end).

  • Objective: Maximize Customer's Lifetime value by ensuring customers are installed in the shortest time possible.

    • Key result: 100% Conversion rate from Welcome Call to commissioning approved at 120-day cohort in Q3 (from 67% welcome call to comm. approved 120-day cohort conversion rate in Q2).

    • Key result: 100% of Industrial SLAs from the Ops and CE teams delivered during Q3 (from 81% in Q2 2024).
