💼 About the position:

Join us as a Procurement and Logistics (P&L) Director to bring clean solar energy to Mexico! Work with our P&L Team and play a critical role in achieving Bright's goals by aligning with the company's priorities. You'll be responsible for leading our operational efforts to bring clean solar energy to Mexico, driving impact as we prepare to double our growth each year over the coming years, expanding and strengthening our P&L team will be essential to our success, and you will play a pivotal role in aligning the team's priorities with Bright's mission. You will collaborate directly with our Head of Operations to drive and oversee all procurement, logistics, and supply chain management aspects.

🥇 Who you are:

  • You have a bachelor's degree, preferably in supply chain management or something related.

  • You have a minimum of 5+ years of experience in supply chain management.

    • This includes 2+ years' experience in a managerial position with direct reports.

  • You have strong knowledge of the Procurement and Logistics Industry and desire to grow within this field.

  • You are comfortable speaking English and communicating concisely.

  • You have the following skills:

    • Financial Management experience in low-margin industry:

      • (i.e., You have 5+ years of experience managing budgets of $1M to USD 5M per month in a low-margin industry; e.g., logistics, retail).

    • Supply Chain Optimization:

      • (i.e., You have proven success in optimizing supply chains through cost reduction, lead time improvement, and inventory reduction, consistently meeting or surpassing industry benchmarks).

      • (i.e., Successfully led a supply chain optimization project that reduced overall costs by 15% through strategic initiatives such as renegotiating supplier contracts, implementing just-in-time inventory practices, and streamlining logistics processes).

      • (i.e., You have proven experience negotiating with vendors and optimizing procurement conditions, including extending credit terms to over 90 days, securing credit lines exceeding $1 million, and reducing delivery times to under seven days).

      • (i.e, You have expertise in balancing supply and demand across residential, small commercial (1,300 deliveries per month), and industrial (26 deliveries per month).

    • Leadership and Team Management:

      • Extensive leadership experience managing cross-functional teams of 10+ across logistics, procurement, and operations in dynamic start-up environments.

        • (i.e., You have led cross-functional teams of 10+ members across logistics, procurement, and operations in a dynamic start-up environment).

      • You have a proven track record of developing incentives that drive the team to exceed their OKRs and align with the company's  4X volume growth in 1 year. 

        • (i.e., Developed and implemented incentive programs that boosted team performance and motivation, resulting in a 4X increase in company volume over the course of a year),

      • Experience managing remote teams across multiple regions using online communication tools. 

        • (i.e., You have managed a geographically dispersed team across various regions using online communication tools such as Slack, Microsoft Teams, and Zoom. Established regular virtual meetings and collaboration protocols to ensure clear communication, effective project management, and team cohesion).

  • Preferred:

    • You have a certification in Lean Six Sigma, Certified Supply Chain Professional (CSCP), or related.

      • (i.e., Applied Lean Six Sigma methodologies to streamline workflows and eliminate waste, contributing to significant cost savings and enhanced productivity).

    • You have experience with transportation and inventory management systems (Odoo Inventory, Zoho Inventory).

      • (i.e., You have leveraged Zoho Inventory to integrate with e-commerce platforms, enhancing real-time visibility and reducing order processing times by 20%).

    • You have five years of leadership experience in contract management and negotiations.

      • (i.e., You have led a team of contract managers to streamline the contract approval process, reducing turnaround time by 40% and improving compliance with legal and regulatory requirements).

    • You have a proven track record managing international suppliers.

      • (i.e., You have successfully navigated complex international logistics and compliance issues, resulting in a 15% reduction in lead times and a 10% decrease in supply chain disruptions).

    • You are hungry and scrappy (can get your hands dirty, biases toward action, and don't need a large support team).

      • (i.e., During a critical supply chain disruption, personally took charge of troubleshooting logistics issues, coordinated with multiple stakeholders, and developed an interim solution that ensured continuity of operations).

💻 Your tasks and responsibilities will be:

  • Implementing budget forecasting tools that lead to an accuracy above 99%  of forecasting vs real expenses (based on supplier invoice tracking and credit line management) and implementing cost-saving initiatives to enhance 10% total CapEx expenditure reduction.

    • (i.e., You have integrated real-time data analytics to monitor and forecast spending trends, resulting in a precise alignment between budget forecasts and actual expenditures).

  • Lead high-impact negotiations with key suppliers to secure favorable terms and manage contracts effectively.

    • (i.e., You have managed contracts effectively by monitoring compliance, addressing performance issues, and ensuring that all terms were met, which contributed to a more cost-effective procurement process).

  • Oversee the optimization of last-mile delivery strategies to ensure timely, cost-effective, customer-focused logistics operations and inventory reduction.

    • (i.e., You focused on inventory reduction by improving demand forecasting and adjusting stock levels based on real-time sales data).

  • Evaluate and select external recruiting partners that align with the company's needs to build a robust talent pipeline.

    • (i.e., You developed criteria for evaluating recruiting partners and established performance metrics to ensure they met hiring objectives and contributed to building a strong, capable team).

  • Continuously monitor market trends to identify and implement strategic improvements in procurement and logistics.

    • (i.e., You analyzed industry reports, supplier market conditions, and emerging technologies to adapt procurement strategies and logistics operations).

  • Establish OKRs and incentive programs that drive the procurement and logistics team to achieve strategic goals.

    • (i.e., You created incentive programs tied to these OKRs, including performance-based bonuses and recognition awards).

At Bright, we operate on the OKR system pioneered at Intel and used widely at Google and many tech companies. For this specific role, your Key Results  (upon which your success will be measured) are:

  • Objective: Ensure Bright is financially sustainable by maximizing project profitability.

    • Key result: >99% accuracy on monthly forecasting vs real expenses. 

    • Key result: >10% total CapEx reduction (including marginal and overhead expenses).

  • Objective: Streamline overall supply chain processes to increase customer satisfaction

    • Key result: >30% reduction in material SLA complete delivery for residential, small commercial, and industrial projects.

    • Key result: 50% reduction in the average inventory rotation days.
